Put Your $ Where Your Mouth Is

According to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), we are more likely to spend our hard-earned money to improve the appearance of our teeth than our body.
The 2012 AACD study found that 80 percent of Americans would spend money to fix their flaws; 62 percent of these people said they would pay for cosmetic dental treatment, and less than half said they would spend money on weight loss treatment.
Dr. Ron Goodlin, the president of the AACD approves. “A great smile is always in style, and these results prove it,” he said.
More than 1,000 Americans over the age of 18 were polled about their attitude toward beauty and aging. Forty-five percent of those polled said they believed a smile could make a person look younger than they are, while legs, hair and body shape played less of a role in reflecting one’s age.
How a Healthy Smile Can Affect Your Life Having healthy teeth and gums is more than just aesthetically pleasing. Healthy teeth enable you to enjoy your favorite foods without worrying about tooth fracture. A beautiful smile can give you confidence to speak and smile in front of loved ones and colleagues, without hiding your mouth behind your hand. Your smile can help you land your dream job and help you feel comfortable in a dating situation or amongst old friends.
Missing teeth can detract from an otherwise attractive smile. If you have lost a tooth and it bothers you, consider a dental implant. Implants are the only permanent tooth replacement. Some people have concerns about the price of implants and other cosmetic / restorative dental treatments. If this is giving you pause, consider working with a trusted and reputable financing company.
There are other things you can do on your own to keep your smile in top shape. Eat a well-balanced and nutritious diet, brush and floss regularly and visit your dentist twice a year for a professional cleaning and examination.
