Your First Visit with Our Orlando Oral Surgeon

First Visit

With Our Orlando Oral Surgeon

Knowing what to expect during your first visit with our Orlando oral surgeon, Dr. Ronald Trevisani, can help the appointment go smoothly. We want you to feel prepared and ready to discuss your oral surgery needs and goals, whether you are visiting us to discuss dental implants, wisdom tooth extraction or a different oral surgery procedure.

Below, Dr. Trevisani and our team explain what you should bring to your appointment and what the initial consultation typically includes.

What to Bring

We ask that you bring a few things to your first visit with Dr. Trevisani:

  • The referral paperwork from your general dentist, if applicable
  • Any relevant X-rays taken by your dentist or physician (you can also have them sent electronically)
  • A list of medications you currently take
  • A photo ID or driver’s license
  • Proof of medical and dental insurance, if applicable

If you are under the age of 18, we ask that a parent or legal guardian accompany you to your visit.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to complete any necessary paperwork.

What to Expect

Your initial consultation is your first opportunity to discuss your diagnosis and treatment options with Dr. Trevisani. Sometimes treatment is performed on the same day, but generally more complex procedures require a second appointment on another day.

During your visit, Dr. Trevisani will review your medical history and inquire about any past dental problems or surgeries. He will want to know about any allergies or health conditions like blood pressure problems, diabetes or asthma.

He may also ask you questions about your lifestyle (e.g., diet, smoking or alcohol habits) if he feels the answers are relevant to your current condition. Dr. Trevisani will review your referral paperwork, X-rays and any other records from your referring dentist or physician. He will examine the affected area of your mouth, face, head or neck thoroughly. He may opt to take additional X-rays or other imaging such as cone beam (CT) scans for a clearer look at what the naked eye cannot see.

All of information gathered thus far is then used to confirm your diagnosis and plan a suitable course of treatment. Dr. Trevisani will lay out all of the treatment options, review the pros and cons of each and offer his recommendations. Together, you will select the most appropriate treatment plan.

At the end of your appointment, you will schedule your surgery and go over your instructions for preparing for the procedure. If, at a later date, you have any questions about these instructions, don’t hesitate to call or email our office at any time.

Same-Day Treatment

If you anticipate same-day treatment, we ask that you refrain from eating and drinking after midnight on the day of your appointment. If you know you will be receiving anesthesia, someone should drive you to and from your appointment, as you may be groggy or tired after your procedure.
